About Us
Hyeyeon Lee grew up in a multilingual home, speaking Korean, Chinese, and Japanese. She studied English from a young age and holds a B.A. in German Langugae and Literature. Lee's interest in Arabic and French developed during her time at university in South Korea. Having lived in five countries, she finally settled in Dubai. With a long experience in translation and language coaching, she, along with author Hala Oleish, decided to launch a collection of self-study Asian language learning tools.
Hala Oleish is a Sudanese dentist and author with a passion for history, education, and Asian languages. She wrote the novel Faience, blending history and prose. Since 2009, she has immersed herself in Korean culture and self-taught the language. Hala actively promotes Korean and other Asian languages, edits scholarly articles. She is also a host at @almas2ala_podcast.
Driven by their shared passion, Dr. Hala Oleish and teacher Hyeyeon Lee have collaboratively developed something truly unique. Drawing upon their extensive backgrounds in language coaching and translation, they have ingeniously crafted a groundbreaking phonetic system that effectively arabizes and romanizes Korean.
Our Vision
Having an extensive experience in language teaching, Teacher Lee faced significant difficulty in describing the pronunciation of Korean alphabet. She expressed this concern to her friend and partner, Dr. Hala Oleish, who, in turn, expressed she had encountered the same challenge during her self-study journey of the language.
So the two decided to establish a project consisting of a series of various customised educational tools that aim to facilitate students' self-learning journey, by constructing a totally NEW system of Arabization and Romanisation of the Korean writing. The first fruit of this project is the "Takallam Khamsa" practice book series which is a set of training booklets for learning the Korean language alphabets.
